April 13 to 17, 2009 The Colonial Parkway is a 23 mile long scenic byway that links Virginia's historic triangle of Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. It began at Jamestown in 1607. It ended and began anew at Yorktown in 1781. OK - that is all the info you get from the park brochure :).
This park was pretty cool. I wasn't sure what to expect but after seeing an exhibit about Jamestown at one of the Smithsonian Museums in DC it was cool to see the real thing. On-going archaeology at the 1607 James Fort excavation...
They found ruins of an old furnace used to melt glass. They recreated one and had a demonstration going on while we were there.
